Aonang Cliff Beach Resort is one of the most ideally located resort in Krabi – right on the Aonang beach front shopping district in Krabi with McDonalds, Aonang Buffet Restaurant, 7-Eleven and many other eateries just right at its door front.
Built on the shopping strip and inwards to the hills, Aonang Cliff Beach Resort comprises of several buildings which houses its 172 rooms and 6 private pool villas. Getting around the resort might sound complicated with the maze of walkways and elevators in different buildings but you will get used to it in no time. You can also opt for the buggy service to send you back to your room or down from your room.
Check in was easy and simple at the lobby with friendly staff that speaks good English. After the check-in, the staff will take you up to your room either by walking or with the buggy. We got booked into the 45 sqm Panaroma Room on the 7th floor of the Panaroma Building and we had to go through some stairs into an elevator of one building which linked over to our building. It was raining heavily with strong winds when we arrived and we definitely got wet going from the lobby to our room.
Our spacious Panaroma room is inspired by modern Thai design and comes with a balcony that offered us a splendid vista of the limestone mountain cliff and the lovely Andaman Sea. There is a Jacuzzi tub on the balcony and if the weather is good, it would have been an ideal spot to watch the lovely sunset in Krabi.
Our room comes with a King-size bed (there is an option for twin beds too), a lovely sofa and work desk, your personal espresso machine with a fully stocked bar, a HDTV with Netflix and the resort also offers complimentary WIFI service in room and throughout the resort.
The bathroom offers a standing shower and twin vanity with one looking out to the bedroom.
After our check-in we decided to head out to one of their off-site dining outlet – the Andamana Beach Restaurant which is about a 15 minutes drive from the resort. The resort provides complimentary shuttle service to the restaurant and back and since Aonang Cliff Beach Resort does not have their own beach, Andamana Beach Restaurant offers the guest a private beach front if one chooses to chill out on a beach.
However, with the non-stop rain, we never got to enjoy the beach at Andamana, but we had a good lunch at the restaurant. The food at Andamana Beach Restaurant is rather limited as there are not too many options to choose from for either Thai or Western menu but the few items that we selected was tasty and delicious. We choose the Thai spring-rolls as appetizer, the Fish and Chips from the Western menu and we also had Tomyum Gung, Green Curry Chicken and a Sweet Spicy Fish with rice from the Thai menu.
After lunch we headed back to the hotel just to chill since we can’t do much that day as it was still raining.
The hotel offers two swimming pool – one is just right beside the lobby adjacent to the fitness center, and another infinity pool over looking the lovely mountains ~ but since it was raining quite heavy, we never really got to enjoy either pools.
Aonang Cliff Beach Resort have a roof-top bar called the Peak Bar Restaurant but unfortunately due to the rain we never got to enjoy the bar and views. We only got to go up the next morning and as you can see the view is amazing.
Since the rain never stop throughout the day of our stay, we decided to just go down to street level where the famous Aonang Buffet Restaurant which is located and enjoy their 499 baht Seafood and BBQ buffet.
Aonang Buffet Restaurant offers a wide varieties of food on its line. There are Thai, Asian, Western and Japanese favorites, choices of BBQ meat and seafood items, live cooking stations offering somtum, roti and phadthai, choice of salad and dessert and their specialty is the grilled Marlin Sailfish. They also have live entertainment performance.
We really had a great time enjoying the food and the people working there. The entertainment was fun and the environment was relaxing – nothing to rush as we have no other plans for the night.
After dinner, we just retire back to our rooms, and again it was a little wet getting back to the room which I think is the biggest drawback of this resort.
The morning breakfast buffet meanwhile is served at Pano Cafe and offers a wide range of fresh breads and pastries, fruits and salad, Thai and Western items, egg and bacon station as well as deep fryer for french fries and yu-tiao.
Overall, I would say Aonang Cliff Beach Resort is good choice of resort because of its location, service and accommodation. It is easily accessible for food, shopping, massage and beach is just a few minutes walk away.
