Last December, we had an opportunity to visit the centrally located 246-room Centara Hotel and Resort in the Southern city of Hatyai. Our team had two rooms, a 29sqm Deluxe city-view room as well as a 76sqm Executive Suite room.
Check in at the hotel was a breeze, the usual passport and sign some papers and we are off to our room. We first check-out the Deluxe city-view room which was a room with classic decor with simple with dark wood furnishing but had all the standard amenities. The room size I guess is ok, considering most people comes to Hatyai will be wondering outside for food, spas and attractions.
The Executive Suite meanwhile carries a much more modern decor compared to the Deluxe Room. The Suite has a living hall with sofa, dining table and a flatscreen TV, while the bedroom is well-appointed with a work desk and a small day-bed. The suite is much brighter and more to my liking.
Centara Hotel and Resort Hatyai also have service apartment for long-staying guest or families visiting the city.
After checking out the rooms, we went down to the lobby to check out the Sky Lounge before heading outside for some local street food. One of the best selling point of Centara Hotel and Resort Hatyai is it location, which is right at the heart of town, with the Central Department Store right below the hotel and street-food and night market just right outside its entrance. There are massage shops lined just across the hotel (although the hotel has one of the finest spa in the city), 7-11 just across the street as well as McDonalds (for those Malaysians who likes to try out the pork burgers) and the popular Gim Yong Market and Santisuk Market is just about 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
After a short walk around the night market and a quick visit to 7-11, we went back to our rooms and had a good rest on its comfortable beds. We were up rather early the next day for breakfast at the Saneha Cafe.
Breakfast was good, I would say its very “Malaysian”- where you can get the best roti canai in Hatyai, cook-to-order noodles, dimsum, hot items like fried noodles, eggs, potatoes, pancakes, etc. There is also quite a good choice of cold-cuts, fruits, pastries and juices. Saneha Cafe is also Certified Halal as told by the Executive Chef.
Do make sure you try out their roti canai (even if you are not staying at the hotel, you can get their super delicious roti canai at their alfresco-style dining at the main drop-off area.
After breakfast, it was a visit to their amazing Cense by Spa Cenvaree. Cense offers a wide range of spa and wellness treatments in a luxurious Balinese-Thai surrounding that will certainly take away any tiredness of your day exploring Hatyai.
Our roadtripper Nissareen had the chance to try out their relaxing spa treatment which she totally loved it ~ especially after 10-days of travelling on the road.
We wished we had more time to enjoy the other facilities like the rooftop swimming pool and also the fitness gym.
In conclusion, I would say Centara Hotel and Resort Hatyai is one of the most conveniently located quality hotel in central Hatyai. It is very accessible especially for those who don’t drive into the city but for those who drives, the hotel also offer ample basement parking. Rates for Centara Hotel and Resort Hatyai starts from RM 200 upwards.
