One of the favorite island in Thailand for the Roadtrippers.asia team is the sleepy island in Krabi Province called Koh Lanta. Easily accessible via ferry from the mainland (private boats as well as public ferries for cars and passengers). We were there during our first trip last December where we stayed at this amazing Layana Resort and Spa.
We enjoyed the island so much that during our second trip, we again crosses over to the island and this time we stayed at this equally amazing resort on its peninsular tip called Crown Lanta Resort and Spa. On the previous trip, we only have a short 2D1N stay on the island which is definitely not enough so this recent trip we made sure we had a 3D2N stay in Koh Lanta.
We got to Koh Lanta this time in early afternoon as our easy drive in from Trang was just a little under 2 hours. Our check in was quick and fast as they already have all our particulars, only thing they need was our passport to make a copy for records. Once the check in was done, we are swiftly taken on the buggy to our Seaview Private Pool Villa. Crown Lanta Resort and Spa is built on slopes but no worries about having to climb (although is a good morning or evening exercise) as their buggies are available 24-hours.
Our 110 sqm Thai modern contemporary designed Seaview Private Pool Villa is amazing. As you walked into the villa, you are greeted with a spacious living space, with sofa and a large coffee table as well as a large flat screen LED TV and a fully stocked mini-bar. The living space is extended out to a patio and then to your private pool over looking the Andaman Sea and Koh Phi Phi. There is an outdoor rain-shower beside the pool if you like to shower under the stars 🙂
The other side of the living space leads into the master bedroom which has a very luxurious King-size bed ( which gives you a beautiful view of the sea when you wake up ), a day bed, work table and a closet.
A huge bathroom is attached to the day bed which has a nice slightly separated standing rain-shower stall, lighted vanity and the toilet.
The Thai contemporary design with dark wood furniture simply makes the whole villa so comfortable and cozy. This is definitely one villa you probably would just wanna stay in and not go out which is wonderful because frankly speaking, apart from the amazing beaches, there are nothing really much to do in Koh Lanta apart from rest and relaxation.
After having a nice relaxing afternoon in our villa, we decided to check out the Infinity Spa. I signed up for the traditional Thai massage while my partner had the oil massage and I would say it was definitely one of the best massage I had in Thailand. My partner enjoyed her oil massage very much too ~ we definitely recommend you to this spa.
After the spa, it was time for us to enjoy our sunset down at the private beach accessible via some stairs from Crown Lanta before our dinner at The Cliff. The Cliff is the restaurant by the main pool side, overlooking the private beach from above. It is an especially beautiful place for sunset dining.
We ordered four dishes – a lovely seafood platter which comes with shrimp, grilled salmon, slipper lobster, mussels, vegetables and a fried rice on the side, a pizza as well as a shrimp curry (with rice). The food were amazingly delicious (or maybe we were hungry) but I think is more to the good job of the chef. We definitely cleaned up each and every dishes. We also had the coconut shake and emmm .. super delicious.
After dinner, it was a short walk back to our villa for some relaxation before we bid good night.
Breakfast was served buffet styled at The Peak restaurant. Seated on top of the hill, The Peak Restaurant gives its diner a panaromic view of the Andaman Sea as you enjoyed your sumptuous breakfast (and they also serve lunch). Breakfast was a good mixture of Western and Thai, they have an egg station for your cooked-to-order, a sweet dessert station for fresh pancakes and waffles as well as a Thai noodle station. Freshly squeezed contortion of juices are also available during breakfast.
After breakfast was our little visit around the facilities of the hotel which also includes a fitness center which shares the same building as the Peak, so you do get a rather good view as your sweat it out.
Crown Lanta Resort and Spa sits on a 22-hectares of land, and with only 83 rooms and villas, it retains a lot of greeneries and also some water feature within the resort. Through the greeneries and lakes, there are a number of good walking path for those who likes to get some light workout done during their holidays.
Our day at the resort was fun and relaxing ~ we spent sometime taking lovely photos by the pool, as well as the park-like areas around the resort as well as going in for a dip in the main pool.
We also spent sometime enjoying ourselves in our private pool before going down for a drink at the lovely Reggae Bar.
The Reggae Bar is bamboo bar built on the cliff overlooking Koh Phi Phi. The place is really nice to chill over your favorite drinks and snacks as you enjoy the sunset to end your evening at Crown Lanta Resort and Spa.
Our stay, even though was a 3D2N was definitely too short as it just went by too fast. Although rated as a 4-star resort, I would say with their impeccable service from a team of personnel who always carry a smile and ever ready to help, their amazing villas (and I think their rooms too from the photos in their web) as well as their facilities, spa offerings and food, I would actually give them another star to make it a 5-star resort.
This is a resort I would definitely wish to be back and back for a longer stay and I would highly recommend it for a honeymooners and romantic getaways. Room rates are very affordable, starting from just about 1,800 baht for their entry-level rooms (which I heard is also amazing) up to just about 4,000 baht for their seaview private pool villas (during the low-season). So what are you waiting for .. its time to head out to Crown Lanta Resort and Spa.
