Perched up on a hill overlooking the Patong beach, sits majestically a luxurious resort called Kalima Resort and Spa. This five-star uber luxurious resort is only a short two minutes drive from the popular Patong Beach but yet far enough to give you the seclusion when needed.
The moment you stepped into the amazing eco-friendly resort, you will be greeted by a grand lobby where check-in is just a breeze. We were greeted, seated and served with a lovely chilled lemongrass drink while the friendly staff prepares all the necessary check-in documentations. Once the check-in is done, you will lead to your room in a buggy with your bags.
We checked into the 46 sqm Honeymoon Seaview Room which is modern and chic in its design. The soothing and mellowed designed rooms in light natural wood colors leads to a balcony that opens to a very beautiful view of the Andaman Sea.
All the 190-rooms and villa in this family resort are equipped with the latest LED TVs with ample satellite channels and DVD players, free WIFI throughout the resort, and a mobile phone to use throughout your stay in Phuket where calls to many countries are complimentary. Bedding are premium and you get a lovely down comforter for an peaceful night sleep.
The Honeymoon Seaview Room comes with bathtub and a lovely rainfall shower-head with Kalima’s own Marine-essence toiletries.
All the rooms in Kalima Resort and Spa also comes with a balcony or patio and ours was a lovely balcony that has this magnificent view of Patong beach and the Andaman Sea.
Apart from the Honeymoon Seaview Suite, we also check-into the 267 sqm One Bedroom Private Pool Villa. This villa is amazing. Perched up on the top of the hill, overlooking the whole bay area, you have a huge villa that comes with an expansive living area, a spacious bedroom and an over-sized bathroom with a huge Jacuzzi tub and the best thing is all these rooms open up to the infinity pool with a majestic vista. Beside the infinity pool you will find a sunken lounge for a lovely chill session under the stars or you can go to the upper patio.
Rooms overall were great – we loved it so much, especially the Private One-Bedroom Pool Villa that I vowed to come back and stay for a few days, not just one.
Apart from the amazing rooms and villas, Kalima Resort and Spa also stands out in terms of the facilities on-site. There are two swimming pools on the premise ~ one 600 sqm infinity pool overlooking the bay with a fine pool bar and another quieter lap pool with an artificial beach where people can sunbathe or have a game of beach volleyball. Beach weddings can also be organized on this artificial private beach.
There is also a nine-hole miniature golf course at the resort that will appeal to both young and old.
Another facility that our roadtrippers got to enjoy was the amazing Busaba Spa located just at poolside. Busaba Spa emphasize on a all 100% natural herb and marine essence in their product to give you a relaxing and revitalizing after a long day out and about. Named after a legendary beauty in Thai historical fiction, the Busaba Spa has seven Thai contemporary single and couple treatment rooms for you holistic spa treatment during your stay at the resort.
Other facilities which we did not have time to check out includes the 7am to 7pm hours fitness center and a Kid’s Club where parents will be able to drop off their kids under the care of trained supervisors so that they can have their own time to enjoy this vast resort.
There are four dining outlets at Kalima Resort and Spa, namely the Malika Terrace where it is opened from breakfast till 11pm. We had the opportunity to enjoy an ala-carte lunch on the day of our arrival where we also met up with the Executive Chef who shared with us the philosophy behind this fusion restaurant. I would say the ala-carte lunch was lovely, with a buffet of fish, lamb, shrimp, vegetable dishes prepared with hints of Thai herbs but not exactly your traditional Thai dishes ~ very creative indeed.
The buffet breakfast for all the hotel guests are also served in this open-air restaurant and I would say you have a very wide selection of Western and Asian food during breakfast. There were live-cooking stations for noodles as well as eggs and a very good selection of pastries and fruits.
Apart from Malika Terrace, guest at Kalima Resort and Spa can also enjoy their authentic Thai meals at the Thai Taste. Thai Taste is opened for dinner and serves local traditional Thai food from the various region in Thailand and if you are looking for local Phuket food, this will be the outlet for you to enjoy.
The Trio’s Pool Bar serves light food and drinks right in the middle of beautiful infinity pool where you can swim up to it or have it served to you at poolside.
The Lima Rock located at the lobby of the hotel opens daily from 6am to 11pm serves a selection of fine light food accompanied by drinks from all over the world.
Overall I would say I loved this resort very much. It is located close enough to the attractions in Patong area but yet away enough to be serene. It is a resort that you probably want to check in and just chill around all day. The rooms are wonderful, and the super comfy bed are amazing. The facilities are plentiful to keep one occupied throughout the day. The only thing I would say is there are a lot of steps in this resort and when you first arrive, you might get confuse on how to get from one building to another, but then the buggy is always just a phone call away.
Rates at Kalima Resort and Spa starts from 10,000 baht for the Deluxe Room and goes up to 60,000 baht for the private one-bedroom pool villa.
