VJ Villa Resort is an alternative resort found in the border town of Dannok and located within the theme park of Asian Cultural Village. VJ Villa Resort consists of two alternative accommodation – either one can go for the villa or one can go for the Container Stay.
I was in Dannok a couple of weeks back and decided to go for something a little bit more different – so I chose the container stay, and which was the very first time I stayed in a container even though I have come across a few of these hotels in Penang and also Muar.
VJ Villa Resort has 104 units of 40ft container which was transformed into an accommodation. There are 5 theme-type of container – Ostrich (blue), Rabbit (yellow), Bird (pink), Plantations (purple) and Ducks and Chicken (red). There are also options of one king bed with sofa or one king bed and one twin bed (I got the second type).
Some of the containers has an outdoor garden (which I did) while some opens straight to the pathway.
Check-in was done in the VJ Villa Resort front office building which share the same building as their food outlet. After a simple check in – which of course they need to make a copy of you passport and white-card, they will send you by their buggy to your container room. This buggy service is available 24 hours but I only used this once because my container was pretty closed to where my car can be parked so is easier for me just to take that short walk out.
My container unit which is a made out from a standard 40′ x 8′ container. Within the confine of the 320 sq feet, lies a set of dining table and round stools, one queen and one twin bed, a work desk, LED TV, and a area for luggage and a mini-bar.
The bathroom is rather simple, with a stand-up shower integrated into the toilet and sink with mirror.
The is a couple of windows cut out from the container to give you a view of the outside and I can say I was pretty impressed with the stay overall. The unit is simple, but practical, air-conditioner was able to keep the insulated container cold even though in the middle of the day.
Breakfast was at the VJ Restaurant located next to the front desk and since there was not a lot of occupancy that day, we didn’t not get to enjoy the buffet breakfast but ala-carte buffet instead. I was told only when occupancy hits 25 or more units will they have the buffet breakfast.
Anyway, I ordered the American Breakfast and the Thai Fried Rice Breakfast and would say they are nice and delicious.
Overall, I am pretty happy with my stay here at the VJ Villa Resort Container Stay and I think it would be a nice alternative for family outing to try something different than the usual hotel room.
