The Yama Hotel Phuket ~ a lovely hilltop boutique hotel overlooking the bay

We recently had the opportunity to check-in and stay at The Yama Hotel Phuket, a 4-star boutique hotel at Kata beach area. The hotel is situated on high-ground which gives you a great view of the beach area and a beautiful sunset can be seen right at the lobby or from most of the rooms.

The drive up to the hotel can be a little tricky with small signage on the main road ~ so do watch out closely for the turn up-hill. Once you go uphill, you wont be able to miss the hotel as it sit majestically on the hill.  There are limited parking at entrance of the mainly lobby which is simple yet elegant and is a lovely place to watch the sunset from.

The check-in is simple, staff is courteous and we were whipped up to our 63 sqm Suite Room with ease. The nice modern contemporary room is well-appointed, with a living area that has a L-shaped sofa and a flatscreen TV, then you come to the bedroom which had a king-size bed, simple and clean and then the bathroom.

The bathroom comes with a stand-alone deep soaking bathtub which I felt was the highlight of the room. The suite also have an L-shaped balcony with view of Kata bay.

Apart from the impressive airy lobby with the giant lanai windows that will captivate any guest in the hotel, is the beautiful swimming pool that you can see from the lobby. The free-form swimming pool with an in-built whirlpool is set facing the west so it gives a beautiful view of the sunset too.

Yama Hotel Phuket also have some pool-access rooms where guest can swim in and out directly from their room ~ perfect for those who likes a dip or a swim in the pool.

Other facilities available at the hotel includes a 24-hours fitness center, fully equipped meeting rooms, a teenage room, a kids room and a spa and massage center. WIFI is complimentary in the room and throughout the hotel.

Dining facilities of The Yama is mainly at Senzees Restaurant where hotel guest can have their  “Thai authentic farm fresh” buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also a SIP Pool Bar on the roof-top where drinks and snacks are served.

Breakfast at the SenZees are good, with a good spread of Asian and Western cuisine, bread and pastries, fruits, fruits juices, good choice of cereals as well as hot station for breakfast eggs and pancakes.

The rates for The Yama Hotel Phuket starts from under RM 200 a night and goes up. For that rate, it is quite a worthwhile stay, but I would suggest to have a car or motorcycle to make this hotel more suitable for you visit to Phuket even though there are free shuttle bus to the beach area.

Overall, the Yama Hotel Phuket provides a tranquil stay, the limited rooms at only 104 makes your visit more personalized and peaceful and is ideal for couples.
