Situated right on the Nong Thale beach in Krabi Province, you will find a wonderful hidden beach bar and restaurant called Sa-ing Bar and Restaurant. Nong Thale is the more exclusive beach in Krabi and is situated about 10 minutes drive to the west of the more populated Ao Nang beach.
Sitting together with a row of rustic beach bars and restaurants, Sa-ing Bar and Restaurant is owned by a couple Terry and Muay (the loveliest and friendliest owners around) and serves one of the best Thai (and Western too) food in town. As a matter of fact, Sa-ing Bar and Restaurant just won the Most Authentic Thai Restaurant in Nong Thale, an award under the Thai Business Excellence Award 2018 ~ congratulations Terry and Muay.
So what do I love about Sa-ing Bar and Restaurant? First is its location (although a little hard to find – but a call to Terry and someone came out to the side of the road to lead us in). It is situated right on the beach .. the tables are set on the beach when the tide are low but there are also tables inside the restaurant just in case of rain. Secondly the food are amazing .. we had a buffet of items from green curry spring rolls to massaman curry to cashew nut chicken and everything was simply fantastic. Finally, the people are great. They are so friendly and helpful, you feel like you are eating at your friend’s place rather than a restaurant.
We only managed to eat at Sa-ing Bar and Restaurant after sun-down and how we wished we could have been there for the sunset. From some of the photos from their Facebook, you can see how beautiful sunset are from the restaurant. However, the place was still nice and cozy, well lit and the breeze that evening was cooling and nice.
We first sat at the beach, which was really nice, but then it started to drizzle again so we moved inside the restaurant. We were lucky that evening wasn’t too crowded because it was Father’s Day in Thailand and there were ample space to move into.
So what did we eat there? We ate a lot. For a starter, we had some creative green curry spring rolls, satay and also the deep fried cheesy potato balls.
For salad, we had the amazing somtum, which our two Thai roadtrippers, Kavintida and Nissareen said were so so good.
For the main, we had the house special Cashew Nut Chicken and Massaman Curry, Phad Pak Bong – which is our stir fried kangkung and my favorite is the Deep Fried Fish with Chili, Lemongrass and Mint (this is ultra delicious – sour and spicy .. yum yum)
For dessert, we were really glad it was only fresh tropical fruits as we were so full from those super delicious appetizer, salad and mains.
Sa-ing Bar and Restaurant is also well stocked with varieties of liquor and it would definitely be an ideal place to chill out with friends or a family dinner. They are also opened in the morning, so for those staying around and looking for some great breakfast, do head over to Sa-ing Bar and Restaurant.
An amazing dinner at the Nong Thale beach-side Sa-ing Bar & Restaurant in Krabi with roadtrippers Angelyn Koay Ween Pei, Kavintida Imket and Honeypretty Katereen
