Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara is set to celebrate the upcoming Holy Month of Ramadan by leading one on a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
The french luxury hotel is teaming up again with celebrity chef, Dato Haji Ismail Ahmad for the second consecutive year for a feast of traditional Malay cuisine from the different states in Malaysia.
Themed “A Nostalgic Feast”, Executive Chef Fabrice Bruto and Chef Dato Haji Ismail promise guests with authentic flavors of traditional Malay cuisine and I can assure you that they did deliver a wonderful spread of your favorite kampung cooking.
As a diner at their recent preview, we were treated to a rich spread of unique and diverse kampung-inspired dishes such as Tauhu Sumbat, Kerabu Mangga Muda, Kerabu Daging Bakar for appetizers, Ayam Percik Kelantan, Daging Salai Masak Lemak Cili Padi, Sambal Udang Petai among the mains and Bubur Cha Cha, Bubur Pulut Hitam, and traditional Malay kuih for desserts.
Chef Dato Ismail’s exclusive creation for the feast includes the Botak Botak Ikan Tenggiri, Paru Berlada, Ayam Kaloi, Daging Masak Hitam, Udang Masak Lemak Nenas, Asam Pedas Ikan Pari and a selection of Panggang Purba served with chef’s own rendition of the Nasi Ulam.
Apart from the traditional kampung fare, the buffet also feature a good selection of international, Chinese, Indian and Japanese fares.
What I personally like best from the buffet is definitely the Panggang Purba – perfectly grilled to create that tender meat, and nicely marinated for amazing flavor. The sauce balanced perfectly and goes extremely well with all the proteins. I also like the Daging Masak Hitam, which I felt is one of the best I had, and the satay is nicely seasoned with chucks of juicy and tender meat.
The normal price for the “A Nostalgic Feast” is RM 188 nett per adult and RM 94 nett per child but if you purchase the vouchers prior to April 22, the sale price is only RM 141 nett per adult and RM 70.50 per child.
